As followers of Christ, we are called to be His hands and feet in our community. Jesus commanded us to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39), and reminds us that “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). He also calls us to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Our outreach ministries embody our church’s vision to “Reach Out” by addressing real needs in Gaston County with practical love and compassion. Through these vital ministries, we demonstrate God’s heart for the hurting and serve as a bridge between our church family and our neighbors.
We partner with the Gaston County Meals on Wheels program to provide nutritious meals, companionship, and a watchful eye on the health and safety of Gaston County seniors. We focus on caring for individuals whose diminished mobility makes it difficult to shop for food, prepare meals, or socialize with others. We serve adults age 60 and older by delivering meals directly to their homes while sharing Christ’s love through kind words and genuine care.
Volunteering with our Meals on Wheels ministry is a meaningful way to serve our community’s seniors while sharing Christ’s love in practical ways. We ask drivers to commit to delivering meals for just one hour, four times a year—making this an accessible opportunity for busy schedules while still making a significant impact.
We are proud to partner with Crisis Assistance Ministry (CAM) of Gastonia, a vital local nonprofit that serves as a lifeline for families facing unexpected financial hardships. CAM provides emergency assistance to households in greater Gastonia who have experienced recent changes resulting in financial crisis, including utility assistance for past-due electric, water, or natural gas bills, rent and mortgage assistance for overdue payments, and food assistance through their on-site pantry. Their compassionate approach considers each family’s unique circumstances, income, expenses, and self-help efforts, while also serving those who rely on fixed incomes to meet their basic needs.
At Pisgah, we support this essential ministry through monthly monetary donations and regular food drives, collecting non-perishable items to keep their pantry stocked. Our volunteers also occasionally assist with organizing and stocking their food pantry, allowing us to serve alongside CAM as they extend hope and practical help to our neighbors in their time of greatest need.
Every weekend, between 800 to 1,000 students in Gaston County Schools go home to households with very little food or no food at all. Through our partnership with the BackPack Weekend Food Program, Inc. (BWFP), we provide healthy, non-perishable meals for students to take home during the school year. This ensures they can return to school the following week better nourished and ready to learn. Our Men’s Fellowship facilitates this crucial ministry, understanding that a child’s ability to learn is directly connected to their basic needs being met.
Education is a cornerstone of opportunity, and our Kennely Committee supports local educators by providing yearly funds for teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms and schools. We focus on schools within five miles of our church, recognizing that strong schools build strong communities. This ministry allows us to invest directly in the educational success of children in our immediate neighborhood while supporting the dedicated teachers who shape young minds daily.
